Long Island Rail Road Introduces its first-ever Holiday Train.

Caltrain's Holiday Train is a festive Bay Area tradition with thousands of lights, carols, Santa, and activities. This year included an onboard experience, offering tickets for rides with performers on Caltrain’s new electrified service.

Metra Delivers Holiday Spirit to their Riders, and Seriously Ill Children to Operation North Pole. (Watch video HERE.)

After a five-year hiatus, Metra’s Operation North Pole Christmas train returned to service on Saturday, December 20. The holiday train trip is organized exclusively for seriously and terminally ill children and their families along Metra’s UP Northwest line. The special service train delivers children to see Santa at the North Pole, (AKA the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, IL.)

Operation North Pole is a Des Plaines, IL-based charitable organization.

This year’s train exterior featured characters from the Nutcracker, and Metra employees have decorated the interiors of each car with lights, tinsel, and holiday themes like Santa’s Workshop, the Grinch, and Candyland.

The specially decorated train was also used in regular service starting December 8 on Metra’s three Union Pacific lines and for Metra’s Holiday Train event on the UP Northwest Line December 13.
